Vasaka is primarily used to treat bronchitis, asthma and tuberculosis. This medicine widens the airways and makes breathing easier, reduces the intensity of coughs and stimulates the excretion of phlegm. Vasaka has strong anti-inflammatory properties and is indicated for sore throat, fever and runny nose. It lowers acidity and can be used to treat gastritis.

Vasaka is also used to treat gout and uremia as it improves the excretion of uric acid and compounds of nitrogen and urea from the body.
